[Class 119] [See also XXXVIII] Relates to apparatus responding to or indicating the angular or lateral displacements of an element 10, Fig. 1, and comprising a flexible tension member 20 connected to the element 10 and provided with an electric contact 18 near a fixed electric contact 26, the contacts closing when the element 10 is not in the central position, and the contacts being so shaped and longitudinally adjustable as to permit the sensitivity of the apparatus to be adjusted, as described for example in Specification 9977/06, [Class 119]. According to the invention, the tension member 20 is resiliently extensible to provide for the longitudinal adjustment for sensitivity. As shown, the tension member 20 is a cable attached at one end to a conical contact 18, itself connected to the element 10 by a coiled spring 12. The other end of the cable is attached at 22 to a drum 24, the rotation of which serves to tension the spring 12 and adjust the longitudinal position of the cone 18 relatively to the fixed contact 26. The fixed contact may comprise a number of insulated segments arranged around the contact 18 and each connected to a separate indicating lamp. In a modification, Fig. 3, two such devices are used side-by-side connected to the same element 10. In this case, the cable 20 of one contact 18 co-operating with a ring of contacts 26 is attached to a fixed point 36, and the cable 46 of the second contact 44 co-operating with a contact ring 50 is alone connected to an adjustable drum 48. The contacts 44, 50 are connected in series with the contact 18, so that the contact device 18, 26 serves to indicate the direction of the lateral displacements of the member 10, but the indicating circuits are operative only if the contact device 44, 50 is also closed, the adjustment of this contact device by the drum 48 determining the sensitivity of the apparatus. The element 10 may be operated by a dummy rifle in a shooting- practise apparatus.
