Abstract

458,677. Radiation and electric therapy apparatus. BAUCH, F. W. O., 23, Althoffstrasse, Steglitz, Berlin. June 15, 1935, No. 17329. [Class 81 (ii)] [See also Group XX] Apparatus for treating a particular part of the body with radiations or oscillating electric fields whilst leaving adjacent parts substantially untreated, is characterized in that a beam of radiation, or an electric field projected through the part is rotated about an axis also passing through the part and at an angle to the beam such that the beam moves over a conical surface. As shown a R÷ntgen-ray tube 11, projecting a beam via a screen 15 through the part 14 to be treated, is rotated about an axis x, y; the beam consequently passes constantly through the port 14 but only intermittently through adjacent ports. Reflecting or refracting means may be used to rotate beams responding to such means ; for example a beam directed through the part 14 may be so reflected from a pair of mirrors as to pass through the part at an angle to the original axis of the beam, the mirrors being rotated as a unit about such original axis. In an electric oscillating circuit comprising inductance, and a pair of condenser plates on opposite sides of the body, the condenser plates may be mounted on conducting arms to rotate about an axis at an angle to their mutual axis, both axes passing through the part to be treated. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 369,662, [Group XX].
