458,093. Casting processes. OESTERREICHISCH AMERIKANISCHE MAGNESIT AKT.-GES., Radenthein, Carinthia, Austria. June 11, 1935, No. 16857. Convention date, May 31. [Class 83 (i)] Moulds for casting aluminium, magnesium, and their allovs are made from metal oxides, or oxidic or oxidized ores poor in silica, mixed with hydrocarbon oil and with known protective substances, such as metal fluosilicates or fluoborates. To make the material more plastic, a part of the material may be in colloidal form or up to 10 per cent of carbon, graphite, clay, bauxite or other binder poor in silica may be added. Chromite or dead-burned magnesite may be mixed with 4 per cent of clay, 1 of coal, 3 of asphaltic petroleum or hydrocarbon oil mixed with bitumen, and 3 of sodium fluosilicate or 1 of magnesium fluosilicate. The mould may be dusted with protective substance or washed with this material in alcohol. Specifications 187,943 and 219,753, [both in Class 83 (i)], are referred to.
