Abstract
457,884. Sanding bricks &c. during moulding. ROGERS, G. E., 1, Holt Avenue, Moreton, Cheshire. June 4, 1935, No. 16165. Addition to 426,444. [Class 87 (ii)] In the apparatus described in the parent Specification, means are provided for periodically moving the roller means out of contact with the clay strip. The spindles 19 of the horizontal brushes are resiliently mounted in the reciprocating carriage 11 by springs 26 and the vertical brushes 20 are similarly mounted and are connected together by frames 31. The spindles carry anti-friction rollers 46, 30 which engage ramps 27, 33 formed on rails 32 fixed to the machine frame. The ramps move the brushes out of contact with the clay strip 16 at each end of the stroke of the carriage 11 and the brushes continue to rotate thus presenting a fresh surface to the clay strip. The spindles of the rollers 30 are mounted adjustably on screws 35. Vertical adjustment of the brushes 18 may be provided by arranging shims between the brackets 36 and rails 37. Pawl-and-ratchet mechanism may be provided for rotating the brushes when clear of the strip. A roller dipping in oil may be mounted to lubricate the under face of the strip 16. According to the Provisional Specification the brushes may be carried by rocking levers resiliently mounted on the frame 11.
