[Class 131] [See also Groups XVII, I, and VI] An apparatus for cutting sections from a cake of soap &c., and dispersing them, consists of a tubular receptacle 3 with a glass &c. liner 2 and an air-tight cover 4, the receptacle being integral with a frame 5 constituting a bracket and having a surface 6 which permits the frame to be secured to a wall. A slide comprising a cutter 10 and a supporting plate 9 can be reciprocated by a handle 15 so as to cut sections from the cake, the sections filling into the hand of the user which is placed below the apparatus. The slide makes a substantially airtight fit with the container so that the contents are protected from evaporation &c. The slide is returned by springs 16, Fig. 3, and is limited by resilient stops (not shown). The cutter may have a concave circular cutting edge, a straight edge or a V-shaped edge, or the V may have curved sides. In the latter case the blade may be in two parts. The slide moves in contact with surfaces 7, 14 which keep it clean. Means for adjusting the cutter for different thicknesses of slice may be provided, and the slide may be made to rock about a pivot. The cake of soap may be fed downwardly by a weight 17.
