Abstract

457,496. Stencils. HARDCASTLE & CO., Ltd., J.,'Blackfriars House, Parsonage, Manchester, and PARKER, C. S., Forestside, Lostock Junction Lane, WALL. C. L., 98, Park Road, and FARRINGTON, F., 57, Higher Swan Lane, all in Bolton. June 4, 1935, No. 16034. [Class 100 (ii)] Stencils, particularly for use with highlycorrosive print colours, are prepared by spraying on to selected areas of a gauze formed of corrosion-resistant material, a molten corrosionresistant metal of high melting-point so that such metal fills up and hardens in the interstices of the areas to which it is applied. The gauze may be made of stainless steel, phosphor bronze, or nickel and the sprayed metal is preferably of the same composition as the gauze to which it is applied. Paper, wax, chrome-gelatine or other suitable material, or an auxiliary stencil may be employed during the spraying operation to protect the parts of the gauze which are to remain permeable. The metal deposit is subsequently calendered and polished. According to the Provisional Specification, a readily-fusible metal such as tin or a tin alloy may be employed in spraying the gauze, in which case the deposit can be removed easily and the gauze made available for further use.
