Abstract
Goods sized with starch are de-sized with amylase preparations containing high molecular organic basic compounds containing one or more organic residues of at least eight carbon atoms, or salts thereof, if desired together with other activators, stabilizers and substances exerting a buffer action. Preferred compounds are sulphonium compounds and compounds containing one or more aliphatic or cycloaliphatic chains of 10--20 carbon atoms. The compounds may be substituted by alkyl-, aryl-, aralkyl-, oxy-aminogroups, or halogens, and are preferably employed in the form of their salts. An addition of 1 part of the compound to 2,000--20,000 is preferred. In examples: (1) To 1,000 litres of water at 48 DEG C. are added 1 kg. of common salt, 200 gms. of dodecylbenzyl-methylsulphonium-methyl-sulphate and pancreas amylase corresponding to 1,000 amylase units; the pH value is adjusted to 6,8; the bath readily de-sizes starched cotton goods; (2) same as example 1, but the compound used is 150 gms. of hexadecyldiethylsulphonium-methyl-sulphate; (3) same as example 1, but the compound employed is 70 gms. of triphenyl-dodecylsulphonium-bromide. Other sulphonium and also arsonium compounds are mentioned.
