Abstract
Goods sized with starch are de-sized with an enzyme and a high molecular nitrogenous compound of a basic nature or salts thereof, containing at least 8 carbon atoms, if desired, together with activators, stabilizers, and substances exerting a buffer action. The nitrogenous compound is preferably an aliphatic amine containing at least eight carbon atoms, e.g. dodecylamine or oleylamine, or higher amines of the hydro-aromatic or cyclo-paraffin series or salts thereof. The nitrogenous compound may be substituted by alkyl, oxyalkyl, oxy, alkoxy, or amino groups, halogens, or it may be in the form of quaternary salts. A proportion of one part of the nitrogenous compound to 2,000--20,000 parts of the de-sizing bath is preferred. In an example, cotton sized with starch is de-sized with a solution containing sodium chloride, dodecylamine hydrochloride and pancreas amylase at 45 DEG C., the pH value of the solution being adjusted to 6,7; the di-sizing bath remains stable even after prolonged use. In a further example, de-sizing is effected with a bath at 50 DEG C. and 5 pH, containing condensed malt extract and abietinyl-dimethylbenzyl-ammonium chloride. In other examples, substances used are abietinyl amine, and the mixture of amines obtained by converting the mixture of aliphatic acids from palm kernel oil into nitriles and reducing to amines.
