Abstract
455,476. Lamps for illuminating relatively long objects. PINTSCH AKT.- GES., J., 71, Andreasstrasse, Berlin. March 13, 1936, No. 7654. Convention date, March 18, 1935. [Classes 75 (ii) and 75 (iii)] In apparatus for illuminating objects of relatively great length, more particularly railway level crossing barriers, comprising a source of light 9, a cut-away parabolic reflector 5, a spherical reflector 7 and a lens 6, the reflectors and the lens are arranged with divergent axes about the source 9 so that they produce a plurality of light beams 2, 3 and 4 of graduated intensity and in different directions. The source of light 9 is at the focus of the parabolic reflector 5 which is arranged to reflect a beam 2, Fig. 2, on to the remote end of the barrier. That portion of the light which would not be reflected is projected by the lens 6 in the direction 3 to about the middle of the barrier. The spherical mirror 7 forms a real image of the source at the point 10 and the light therefrom is directed by the lens towards the rear end of the barrier in the form of a beam 4. Fig. 3 shows the apparatus in the form of a lantern in which the lens 6 is eccentrically and rotatably mounted and the mirror 7 is rotatable about an eccentric supporting pin which is also displaceable vertically and laterally. A rotatable fluted diffusing disc 8 closes the front of the lantern which is rotatably supported on a shaft 11 and may be tilted by means of screws 12 and 13.
