Abstract

453,805. Electrolysis. ROESCH, A., (trading as WAGNER, F., [Firm of]), 31, Tunnelstrasse, and RADECKER, W.. 14, Pfõlzerstrasse, both in. Pforzheim, Germany. Oct. 16, 1935, No. 28643. Convention date. Nov. 19, 1934. [Class 41] [See also Groups II and VIII] In an apparatus for passing materials such as tubes, bars, or chains through baths such as salt quenching or annealing baths or galvanic baths, the material is fed by a tube 12 through a central opening 16 in the dished end wall 14 of a spiral drum 11, of the form shown in Fig. 3, and passes in a straight line through the drum through an opening 17 in the dished end wall 15 of the drum and out through a tube 13. The tubes 12, 13 are secured to the drum 11 by struts 18, 19, and mounted in bearings in the side wall of a furnace 1 having a molten salt container 6 so that the drum during the passage of the material may be rotated in the salt bath. The liquid raised up by the drum flows back into the bath through the openings 16, 17. For galvanic baths, a tube 26, Fig. 5, is mounted on supports 25 in the space 24 of the drum 11 and is connected to one source of electric supply by a conductor 27. The tube is provided with longitudinal slots 28 so that the electrolyte is brought into contact with the material 29 to be treated, which is passed over rollers 30 connected to the other current pole 31 by means of a sliding contact 32.
