Void [Abridged as open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, June 5, 1935]. [Class 107] Relates to road-cleaning machines of the type in which a current of air is used to conduct dust from the road to a container and which is provided with a device for separating the dust from the air. The separating device described consists of a rotating wheel 1 having blades of filtering material through which air is caused to pass against the action of the centrifugal force. The air is drawn into the separator by a fan 2 which rotates in the same direction as the separator. The latter is provided with two sets of vertical bars 10, 11, arranged to form concentric circles and connecting these bars a continuous web of filter cloth 12a is stretched to form a number of radial blades. The cloth is made air-tight at the points of these blades by an application of paint or varnish, so that a ball of dust can accumulate thereon until it is sufficiently large to be thrown off by centrifugal force against the pressure of the air current. The dust is swept into the container 3 by a rotary brush 5, the bristles of which are opened adjacent the point at which the air flows through it by an adjustable comb or stop 6.
