Abstract
453,090. Puzzles. WATSON, N. V., 3, Woodhouse Cliff, Leeds. Jan. 14, 1936, No. 1221. [Class 132 (iii)] A container for a jig-saw puzzle 3 for use as a greeting card or advertising device comprises a tray 1 for containing the loose pieces, lid 2, and open centred frame 4 forming a mount for the picture of the assembled puzzle. The back of the tray 1 and /or the back of the lid 2 is fitted with a foldable strut 6 braced by a hinged flap 7 whereby the assembled picture can be displayed in an upright position. Suitable greetings and the sender's signature can be inscribed across a plurality of the puzzle pieces and can be read on assembly of the pieces. Suitable instructions can be printed on the lid or tray. The frame 4 may be fitted with a window of transparent material and the lid 2 dispensed with, the frame 4 serving as the lid and the puzzle being assembled on the underside of the tray, the interior of which may be fitted with a strut. In a collapsable modification the frame 4 is constructed as an open ended box or a diagonally or sidewise foldable shell into which is inserted a similarly folded tray which can be inverted to support the assembled puzzle.
