Abstract
Rubber is coloured greenish to pure blue shades, fast to chemical action, by incorporating a dyestuff of the phthalocyanine series prior to vulcanization and thereafter vulcanizing The dyestuff may be used alone or in admixture with suitable substrata or white pigments. The following examples are specified: (1) 1 part of a colour paste containing 66 per cent of factice and 34 per cent of a dyestuff obtained by heating phthalodinitrile with copper at 200 DEG C. is mixed with 100 parts of a usual rubber mixture and the mixture is vulcanized at 140 DEG C.; (2) 2 parts of a colour paste containing factice and the dyestuff obtained by heating phthalodinitrile in presence of a solvent are mixed with 100 parts of a rubber mixture containing sulphur, mercaptobenzothiazole, titanium dioxide and calcium carbonate and the mixture is vulcanized at 140 DEG C.; (3) 1 part of the dyestuff obtained by treating 3-Chlorophthalodinitrile with sodium amylate is mixed with 100 parts of a usual rubber mixture and the mixture is vulcanized.
