Abstract

452,126. Constructional metal unit. BOUCHERIE, P. L., 196<bis>, Avenue de Versailles, and SEAILLES, J. C., 54, Rue Bonaparte, both in Paris. Nov. 9, 1934, No. 32338. Void [Abridged as open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, May 18, 1935]. [Classes 20 (ii) and 20 (iv)] Composite constructional members, stated to be suitable for use as ties or braces in lattice girders, as concrete reinforcement, and as cable sections in a suspension bridge where they take simple compressive or tensile loads, are composed of at least two different materials one of which A is subjected to tension and the other B to compression by reciprocal action. It is stated that materials of high tensile resistance, such as steel, can be thus combined with cheaper materials having high compressive resistance, such as cast iron, concrete, earthenware or glass. Fig. 2 shows a tension member A which is screwed up to place the tube B under compression. Figs. 4 and 5 show in section alternative dispositions of the parts A and B.
