Abstract
451,908. Coin-freed article-delivery apparatus. SCHULTE, F., 75, Paulsbornerstrasse, Halensee, Berlin. Jan. 20, 1936, No. 1834. Convention date, Jan. 19, 1935. [Class 27] Articles stored in compartments of rotary drums.-Articles are arranged in compartments formed by radial walls d<1>, Figs. 2 and 3, in a series of trays d arranged one above another in several storeys surrounding a hollow column b freely rotatable in one direction only by a handle c', so that any article in any storey may be selected and brought opposite a door k, there being a door for each tray. The rotation of the container is controlled by a ratchet wheel e co-operating with a fixed pawl e<1>, the nose of which snaps into notches w<1> on the ratchet wheel to position the compartments accurately opposite the delivery openings closed by the doors k. Four pillars f, f<1>, f<11> extend upwardly from a pedestal a containing a cash drawer u, the pillars f having hinged thereto glass panels g which cover the open ends of the compartments and are secured by a flanged cover a<1>. The doors k are located between the pillars f<1>, f<11> which are of channel section and are connected by a series of channel section brackets i on which the doors slide. When a door is opened after insertion of coins, it slides behind a glass panel g<11>. Each door has pivoted thereto a pawl l which co-operates with a cam-shaped guide m<1> on the bracket i to cause the nose of the pawl to project into the path of a partition d<1>, thus causing an open door to be shut by the rotation of the container and also a compartment to be positioned in register with a delivery opening by the opening of a door. An ice container may be inserted in the hollow column b, or this column may be pierced so that the apparatus can be illuminated from the interior. Coin action, mechanical-connection and multiple-coin.-Coins z, Fig. 4, are inserted through a slot n in the door and drop down a shoot n<1> so that the first coin projects through the end wall p<1> of the door and the last is engaged by an abutment v. When the door is opened, after a small lost motion the first coin engages and rotatates a double-armed lever o<1> which would normally prevent the door from being opened. The number of coins required may be varied by filling pieces v<1>. The shoot n<1> is provided with testing mechanism, rejected coins being returned through a shoot n<11>. A spring-controlled lever is provided to ensure that the door is fully closed.
