Abstract

449,423. Saxophones. SELMER, H., 4, Place Dancourt, Paris. April 17, 1935, No. 11824. [Class 88 (ii)] In a saxophone, shown in sectional plan in Fig. 3, the holes 12a, 17a, which arc respectively opened by key 6a, pivoted at 9a and closed by key 7a pivoted at 14a, both keys being actuated by the left-hand little finger, are arranged at a side of the instrument not turned towards the player. The usual holes 4 operated by the keys 1 actuated by the first three fingers of the left hand are on the same side. The forces about the axes of the mechanisms operated by the keys 6a, 7a are balanced, key 6a acting through a second pivot 21. The angle between the lines of actuation, S<1>, T, of the keys 6a, 7a and the keys 1 is reduced by the construction. The finger piece of the lowest hole also operates the key 7a.
