Abstract
448,928. Fire-extinguishing. TAPPE, W., 27bis, Vitting Strasse, Bucharest. Oct. 17, 1934, No. 29695. Convention date, Oct. 17, 1933. [Class 47 (ii)] A device for directing fireextinguishing foam to the seat of a fire consists of a telescopic pipe 6-6<11>, the rear section 6 of which is rigidly secured to a frame 5 pivoted on a turntable 4 mounted on a wheeled carriage 1. The sections 6-6<11> are braced by struts or cables 10-10<11> secured to drums 11 at the upper end of the frame. The frame is tilted, to elevate the pipe, by a cable 8 and winch 7 mounted on the turntable. The free end of the pipe is provided with a curved spout, and the rear section is adapted for connection to any suitable source of foam. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 describes a device consisting of a telescopic pipe 20, 24, 25, Fig. 1 (Cancelled), carried by a frame 12 pivoted, by a shaft 11, on a turntable 4 mounted on a wheeled carriage 1. The turntable is rotatable by gearing 5, 8 and a crank handle, and the frame 12 is tiltable, to erect the pipe, by means of cables 18 and winding drums 15 carried by a counterweight 14 mounted on the shaft 11. The inner pipe section 20 is fixed to the frame 12 and is braced by a strut 23. The telescopic sections 24, 25 are fitted respectively with collars 28, 29, Fig. 4 (Cancelled), to which are secured cables 30, 31 which pass over pulleys 32, 33 to winding drums 38, 39 whereby the sections are extended. When extended, the sections 24, 25 are braced by cables 42, 43 adapted to be tightened by winding drums 40, 41. A nozzle 26 fitted to the pipe section 25 is connected to a flexible hose 27 which extends within the pipe sections and emerges from an aperture at the inner end of the section 20 to be connected to a source of foam or other medium. Alternatively, the pipe may be formed of sections adapted to be screwed together as required and the separate hose 27 may be omitted. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
