[Class 103 (iv)] In a colliery corve or like vehicle body of the kind in which the side and end plates a, b are formed with mutually engaging bentover or hook edges, the hooks are so constructed as to form when engaged a slot g into which a rectangular locking-bar or strip h is inserted to lock the plates together, means being provided for retaining the strip in such position. In the arrangement shown the lower end of the strip h is bent inwardly, and a securing bolt k is passed through a hole j formed in the strip at its bend and through the side and end plates and base plate d, which is preferably provided with an upturned flange e around its edges. Additional bolts may pass through the strip and plates at intervals. If desired, the slots g may be disposed on the interior of the body, or otherwise than at the corners, and the strip h may also be bent over at its upper end. For strengthening purposes the upper edges of the plates a, b are rolled over a reinforcing wire, and the bottom edges may be similarly strengthened.
