448,007. Nonconducting coverings for heat. STEVENS, A. H., 5, Quality Court, Chancery Lane, London.-(International Paper Co. ; 220, East 42nd Street, New York, U.S.A.) April 26, 1935, No. 12592. [Class 64 (ii)] [See also Group VIII] Heat insulation comprises twc sheets of insulating-material 10, 12 such as paper, with an intermediate sheet of metal foil 11, e.g. aluminium, the sheets being spaced by rows of hollow tubes 13, which may be of paper spirally wound. To produce the material, sheets of paper are fed from rolls 14, 16, the former passing over a roller 20 where it receives a paper tube 13 from a feeder wheel 19. Adhesive is applied to the upper and lower sides of the tubes 13 by rollers 23, 22. A sheet 11 of aluminium foil receives paper tubes in a similar manner, and the sheets are brought together between rollers 17, 17, 18, 18, and received by a reel 28<1>. The paper tubes in the two air spaces are arranged in staggered relation. The tubes may be 0À25-0À33 inches in diameter and 6 inches apart.
