Abstract

447,444. Eccentric epicyclic gearing ; pulleyhoists. FLIESBERG, E. A. M., 4, Stora Mossens Backe, Appelviken, Sweden. March 25, 1935, No. 9206. [Class 80 (i)] [See also Group XXX] In an eccentric epicyclic gear in which the middle radial planes of the gear wheels coincide, the driving member is journalled in the casing and carries the eccentric, which has a concentric bore to receive the driven member. The driving and driven members may be reversed. In the pulley block shown in Fig. 1, the driving shaft 1 is supported in the frame 3 at each end by self - aligning bearings 2, 5. The hoisting wheel 13 is supported on the shaft 1 by a bearing 14 and by a sleeve 15 supported inside the eccentric 17 by a needle bearing 16. The eccentric 17 is secured to the end 18 of the shaft 1 and supports the double gyrating gear 21, 22, which engages the fixed rim of teeth 24 and the gear 23 on the wheel 13. The driving wheel 7 is connected to the shaft 1 through a slipping coupling 9. In the gear shown in Fig. 2, the driven gear 29 is mounted in the casing 30 by a self-aligning ball-bearing 31, and is secured to a driven shaft 28 supported by needle bearings 33 within a sleeve 34 secured to the driving shaft 44 and carrying the eccentric 35, whose internal eccentric surface 351 supports, through a needle bearing 36, the gyrating gear 37. The sleeve 34 is supported by the self-aligning ball bearing 43 in the hub of the gear 42, which is fixed in the casing. The outer surface of the eccentric 35 is also eccentric so that the eccentric acts as a counterweight to the gyrating gear. The sum of the heights of the teeth in the co-operating gear-wheels is preferably not greater than the eccentricity so that there may be only a small difference in the number of teeth (say 1 to 4) in the different wheels. The pressure angle is preferably not more than 35‹. The addenda of the internal teeth may be half as high as those of the external teeth co-operating with them.
