Abstract

447,017. Folding paper. SPIESS, G., 78, Zschochersche Strasse, Leipsic, Germany. Nov. 4, 1935, No. 30508. Convention date, Nov. 3, 1934. [Class 100 (i)] In a folding-pocket for folding-machines having buckling-folders, there is arranged in the free entry space 1 of the pocket a number of springy guide members 8, which guides extend from the entrance to the rear of the pocket and exert a slight frictional action on the entering or departing sheet, and are adjustable to enable a variation in pressure to be obtained by being rigidly connected to the front and adjustably connected to the rear of the pocket. As shown, the guides 8, which may be of steel or brass, are secured by screws to the upper front cross member 2 of the pocket and their rear ends are slotted and the slots are engaged by screws 10 which screw into the lower rear cross member 4 of the pocket. The purpose of the guides 8 is to enable the thinnest of paper sheets to be folded accurately since undulations in the sheets cannot be formed within the pocket.
