446,788. Surgical heating and cooling appliances. S.N.I.M. SOC. ANON., 4, Rue du Lion d'Or, Lausanne, Switzerland. May 8, 1935, No. 13606. Convention date, May 8, 1934. [Class 81 (ii)] In a surgical heating or cooling appliance comprising a receptacle of rubber or the like having inlet and outlet tubes for circulation of liquids the receptacle is shaped for application behind the ear and is connected to a head strap by a rod adjustably secured to the strap by a screw clamp. Alternatively or additionally the receptacle comprises a metal plate 13 having rubber sheets 14, 15 secured to it at their edges and spaced from it by studs 16<1>, the plate having an aperture 16 through which liquid passes from the inlet to the outlet side of the receptacle. In a further construction for application to the forehead a receptacle, comprising two sheets of rubber secured at their edges and spaced by rubber studs, is in the form of two substantially triangular parts integrally connected at their bases which are in line, the base of the receptacle having straps for attachment to the forehead and the free apical portions carrying the inlet and outlet tubes being folded back over the head.
