Abstract
446,211. Hydraulic turbines. ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., 28, Kingsway, London, and SEEWER, P. W., Bilton Place, Rugby. Jan. 28, 1935, No. 2694. [Class 110 (iii)] The invention relates to the utilization of existing sluices of a dam 1, normally feeding conduits for irrigation purposes, wherein pipe-lines are inserted in a conduit and led to an inlet pipe 6 of a hydraulic turbine 2. In one arrangement two banks of pipelines 3 are fixed to a plate 4 provided with flared inlets 4d, the pipes gradually merging from six to two parallel channels joined by expansion joints to the inlet 6. Stiffeners are incorporated on and between the pipes.
