[Class 26] In disinfecting apparatus of the kind in which a small quantity of liquid of higher specific gravity, e.g. water, entering through an inlet is trapped as the liquid level rises in a tank to displace air through a vent from a space above a restricted area of a disinfecting liquid of lower specific gravity contained in a vessel immersed in the tank, whereupon its place is taken by a similar quantity of the disinfectant which is itself trapped by the closing of the vent and is subsequently withdrawn when the level of the water &c. falls to re-open the vent, the position of the vent 5 with respect to the inlet 6 is capable of adjustment to vary the quantity of disinfectant delivered. To this end, the parts 9, 4 are adjustable telescopically relatively to one another.
