Abstract
<PICT:0444552/IV/1> A washing appliance particularly for removing stains from tablecloths without wetting a large portion thereof comprises two chambers 1, 2 having peripheral rubber rings 8 between which the portion of the cloth 9 requiring treatment is clamped, one of the chambers being movable relatively to the other by means of a handle 20 and locked by a pawl 21. Liquid is passed in alternately opposite directions either from the water main through a reversing valve or as shown from a reciprocating pump 12. Turbine wheels 4 to which brushes 6 may be resiliently secured are provided within the chambers, suitably apertured discs 3, 5 being provided to direct the liquid to and from the wheels. The brushes may alternatively be driven by clockwork or otherwise.
