Abstract

443,138. Rolling strip metal. LESZL, N., Bassano del Grappa, Italy: Aug. 13, 1935, No. 22828. Convention date, Aug. 14, 1934. [Class 83 (iv)] A metal strip of width x and travelling in the direction r is rolled out transversely to width y either by one or a pair of long conical rolls b<2>, Fig. 1, moved in a transverse arc z, or by traversing a number of short cylindrical conical, concave or convex rolls d, &c. Fig. 2, forming a pass with a single roll w over which the strip travels, or, as in Fig. 4 the strip being spirally bent, or skelped in a die and mandrel c, to tubular form with open or welded or stitched edges and widened by skew rolls or by a number of short rolls d<1>-d<4> or by a long conical roller g the pressure of which can be varied by moving the conical bush f as desired, by pressing the die e against it. If a single roll is used, Fig. 1, it co-operates with a flat or curved platen surface. The rolling may be either hot or cold.
