Abstract

442,975. Tennis rackets. FOWLER. F., Wingello House, Angel Place, Sydney, Australia. Feb. 19, 1935, No. 5365. Convention date, Oct. 26, 1934. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Aug. 23, 1935.] [Class 132 (ii)] In a slot 5 in the wooden handle of a tennis racket there is secured by adhesive a one-piece cane insertion strip 6 extending from the lower end of the handle to a point short of the middlepiece 3 of the frame, and having its major transverse dimension lying in the plane of the racket head. In a slot 7 at right angles to the slot 5 may be secured another cane insertion strip 8. Handle slips 4 may be secured on some or all of the faces of the handle. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also constructions wherein the cane insertion strip extends through the middle-piece, if only one such strip is used it may, if desired, lie at right angles to the plane of the racket. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
