[Class 83 (iv)] [See also Group XXVIII] In jointing lead pipes the end of a pipe 2 is placed within the end of a pipe 1 or a connecting pipe, a filler of rubber tubing 3, which is expansible and adhesive under the action of heat, is positioned around the end of the pipe 2 and the remaining space between the ends of the pipes is filled with solder and heated. One end of the tubing is secured inside the other and the tubing is flattened by the pressure applied by the outer pipe. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 also states that the filler may consist of sodium water glass or rubber cement or of rubber tubing suffused with these materials. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
