Abstract

<PICT:0440732/III/1> Degreasing-apparatus for metal and similar non-absorbent articles consists of a tank 1 divided by a perforated floor 7 into a sump 9 containing heated solvent and an upper vapour space provided with cooling coils 2, below which are supported one or more removable open - topped tanks 13 containing liquid solvent such as trichlorethylene. A series of connected tanks may be used or a single tank divided into compartments and are supplied with condensed solvent collected in a gutter 3 and lid to the bottom of the first tank through a conduit 16. Dirty solvent overflows from the first tank into the bottom of the next, and from the last tank into the sump 9. The articles are immersed in first used and then clean solvent and finally treated with solvent vapours.
