[Class 6 (iii)] The body, rear wheels and rear springs of a motor car 1 are removed and the rear portion of the chassis is supported upon the main wheels of an ordinary horse-drawn moving machine 2, the draught pole of which has been removed. The mowing machine is secured to the longitudinal frame members 5 of the chassis, which may be reinforced by members 15, by longitudinally adjustable brackets 6 carrying split sleeves 7 shaped to conform to the contour of the end of the axle casing 9 of the mower. The rear axle 3 of the car is raised and fitted into bearing blocks depending from laterally extending members 16 secured below the chassis frame. The ends of this axle are provided with sprocket wheels 19 which drive through chains 21, sprocket wheels 22 secured to the wheels of the mower by U-shaped bolts. The tension of the chain is adjusted by altering the position of the brackets 6. The usual axle of the mowing machine may be replaced by one of larger diameter which may be extended to support the sprocket wheels 22. The lifting and the tilting levers 29, 30 may if desired be mounted on the motor chassis and the usual seat 31 of the mower is arranged in a suitable position for operating the steering wheel of the motor. The shoe of the knife bar is connected to the forepart of the chassis by an adjustable resilient connection. In a modification the draught pole may be retained and secured to the chassis. For travelling, road wheels may be secured to the sprocket wheels 22 by screws 45.
