Abstract
440,631. Bicycle supports. KIRCHHOFF, F., Schnathorst, near Lohne, Westphalia, Germany. Aug. 28, 1935, No. 24040. [Class 136 (i)] In a bicycle support of the type which is pro - vided with laterallyspaced ground-engaging legs and is pivoted so as to swing upwards in the longitudinal plane of the cycle into an inoperative position, the support is also pivoted so that it can be swung transversely and secured in any angular position, according to the transverse slope of the ground. The support proper, comprising spaced legs c, swings transversely about a pivot f on a member e, which is mounted on transverse pivots p in a casing a secured to the chain stay near the crank bracket, the support swinging back about the pivots p from the operative to the inoperative position under the action of a tension spring d when the cycle is pushed forward. The spring d acts on an extension g of the support c, and the lower end k of the spring is adapted to engage one of several notches i in an extension h of the casing a in order to retain the support c in laterally-adjusted position.
