Abstract
439,844. Band clips. HARLEY, F. B., 167, Frimley Road, Camberley, Surrey. Jan. 31, 1935, No. 3219. [Class 44] A clip for securing hose-pipes comprises a coil of spring wire 1, the ends of which overlap and are bent to form upstanding eyes 2, 3 which are forced apart by screw means to tighten the clip. In Fig. 1, a bolt 4 has a head 7 cut away at 8, Fig. 3, to embrace the adjacent coils of wire to prevent them from spreading and the bolt from rotating. An extension 9 of the head enters eye 3 and a nut 5 with a part 6 entering eye 2 screws towards the right-hand end of the bolt to tighten the clip. In a modification the bolt is rotatable, the nut being formed with a cut-away such as 8 to prevent its rotation. Fig. 6 shows a bolt 10 with a central hexagonal part 11 having a tommy-hole 12 and with right and left-hand threads operating nuts 13 held against rotation by cut-away peripheries. Springs may be inserted between the heads of the nuts and the eyes 2, 3, as shown at 15, Fig. 6.
