439,263. Nutcrackers. RAVIGNEAUX, P., 18, Avenue de Neuilly, Neuilly-sur-Seine, France. Dec. 21, 1934, No. 36755. Convention date, Dec. 22, 1933. [Class 128] A nutcracker composed of two articulated legs carrying two pairs of jaws which open to different extents, one pair on each side of the fulcrum, is characterized in that the jaws are made in the form of channels disposed obliquely to each other and in that the relative movement between the legs is limited by abutments in both the open and closed positions. In the form shown in which serrated channels C<1>, C' accommodate hazelnuts and channels D<1>, D<2>, walnuts, the abutments are constituted by a part H of one leg, a stud H<1>, and knobs K embraced by a spring. In an alternative form comprising two legs having a U-shaped cross-section the abutment limiting opening may be provided by a cut-out portion of one leg embracing the other. The fulcrum axis may be parallel to the edges L, L, or keeping the fulcrum axis as shown, the channel axes may be tilted. The channels may be integral with or secured to the legs. Various forms of channel are described.
