Abstract

A porous filling-material for reservoirs containing explosive gases under pressure, more especially for dissolved acetylene, comprises a felted mass of animal hair with or without another fibrous material such as peat, asbestos, or plant fibres which is first mixed and loosely entangled, for example by the process known as bowing and then subjected to a felting process inside the container by further mixing and pressing with a rod through the mouth of the container.
