Abstract
436,147. Fur - shearing machines. PUYMBROECK, J. VAN, 158, Grande Rue au Bois, Brussels. March 26, 1934, No. 9387. [Class 76] A fur-shearing machine comprises a drum 22 over which the skin passes and on which it is supported while being sheared, which is provided with prong like projections on to which the skin is pressed as by smoothing rollers 20 and a pressure roller 51. The skins are conveyed to the roller 22 on their way to the shearing device 95 by sets of belts 1, 2 and 3, 4, between which the skin is compressed, and running over grooved pulleys. The belts 4 also pass round the drum 22. Blowing devices 11<1>, 12<1> deflect any fur projecting at the sides of the skin so that it is engaged by the rollers and smoothed down. A further blowing device 23 is arranged to discharge parallel with the surface of the drum to arrange the hairs of the fur so as to be properly cut. The pressing rollers 20 are loosely mounted on a common shaft 45 and rotate in jaws 38, pivoted on a fixed shaft 39 and are pressed towards the drum 22 by springs 40. Discs 46 fast on the shaft 45 carry pins 47 which engage holes 48 in the rollers 20 of diameter greater than the pins. Means are provided for automatic operation of the shearing device comprising a roller 51 which engages a fur skin passing round the drum 22 and causes movement of the bell-crank lever 52, 56 stressed by spring 57. The end of this lever contacts with a pin 78 on a spring stressed lever 75 having pins 74 engaging a groove in sleeve block 64 driven by gearing from the roller 22 and carrying clutch discs 66, 67 engageable with discs 62, 63 splined on the sleeve 61 on which the block 64 is mounted. A lever 80, 84 carries pins 79 engaging a groove on the clutch member 63 which carries pins 91 through which drive is imparted to a shaft 86 on which are mounted cams 85, 92 engaged respectively by the lever 84 and a roller 93 on the pivoted support 94 of the shearing device. The shaft 59 on which the sleeve 61 is freely mounted is fast to the gear 88 and to a cam 97 engaged by a lever 99 stressed by a spring 101, the cam being so contoured that the lever can effect a fractional rotation of the shaft. When a skin passes beneath the roller 51 the lever 56 moves to the right and allows the shift of the member 64 to the right to engage the clutch, members 67, 63 causing rotation of the shaft 87 and by motion of the cam 93 allowing the shearing device to move into contact with the skin. The cam 85 then comes into operation to shift the lever 84 and declutch the parts 63, 67. When the skin has passed from beneath the roller 51 the lever 56 moves to the left, the block 64 is moved to engage the clutch members 66, 62, the sleeve 61, shaft 59 and shaft 87 are rotated and the cam 93 lifts the cutter out of position. The cam 85 then raises the lever 84 and causes the declutching of the discs 62, 66. The lever 99 then returns the shaft 59 and the connected gearing to initial position.
