Abstract

<PICT:0435000/III/1> Apparatus for lining internal walls of hollow bodies, such as a tube 1, with thermoplastic material such as bitumen, comprises an elongated open-top trough 4, heating means such as one or more gas burners 10, and a distributer in the form of a carrier 6 extending axially within the trough and having mounted rigidly and transversely thereon scraper blades 7 occupying substantially the entire cross-section, the distributer and trough being capable of relative axial movement to discharge the contents of the trough from one end thereof intermittently along the length of the hollow body. The tube 1 may be rotated on rollers 2 and the carrier 6 and trough 4 mounted on a carriage 3 on rails 12. In use the trough may be run into the tube and an eye 8 on the carrier engaged with a fixed retainer 9. The trough is run out and so successively uncovers the spaces between the plates 7 and discharges the material along the tube. Carrier rollers 11 may be provided for the trough and a counterweight 5 on the carriage. Instead of the distributer being stationary when the trough moves, they may both move in opposite directions or in the same direction at different speeds, or the trough may remain stationary and the distributer and hollow body move in the same or opposite directions.
