M. ; 719, Highland Avenue, Westfield, New Jersey, U.S.A.) March 9, 1935, No. 7463. Convention date, Dec. 20, 1934. [Classes 23 and 59] A rotary classifier disposed in a casing adjacent an outlet conduit comprises a conical plate mounted on a vertical driving shaft and extending below the outlet, and a series of arcuately spaced blades mounted on the upper side of the plate and having passageways therebetween communicating with the outlet. As shown applied to a ball-and-ring mill, the balls 15 are rotated by an intermediate ring 13 driven by the shaft 16 and are loaded by springs 19. Hot air &c. enters at 24 and passes inside of the lower row and outside of the upper row of balls to outlets 30 in the top of the casing. The outlets are controlled by valves 31 to regulate the velocity of air and material through the rotary classifier driven by a shaft 40 from the main drive shaft 16. The classifier comprises a conical base 33, arcuate blades 36 and a top ring 34 forming an air seal 34a with a stationary ring 35 on the casing. The coarse material entering inwardly through the blades 36 are thrown off by centrifugal force and descend with the feed from the shoot 27 for regrinding.
