Abstract

434,738. Sewing-machines. BRITISH UNITED SHOE MACHINERY CO., Ltd., and ELLIOTT, H. E., Belgrave Road, Leicester. March 9, 1934, No. 7489. [Class 112] The needle of curved hook needle bootsewing machines of the type described in Specifications 23478/10, [Class 112], and 410,463, are lubricated by a pump supplying lubricant from a reservoir at predetermined intervals. The invention is described as being applied to the needle oiling device of Specification 410,497. A pump 1 has a vertical plunger 3 supplying a drop of oil along a duct 4 to the needle each time the plunger 3 is depressed. The plunger is adjustably connected to a toggle link 5 connected in turn to a toggle 11 on a bracket 15. The toggles operate to cause the plunger to supply a drop of oil to the needle, the size of the drop being determined by the adjustment at 7. The toggles are operated by the to-andfro motion of the shaft 31 as in Specification 410,497, via levers 27, 23 and 17. The mechanism may be used to supply lubricant to the brush lubricating device described in Specification 436,453.
