Abstract
Isinglass for use in making plasters is prepared by immersing dried fish sounds in water, bringing the mass to the boiling point to render it sterile, and then adding an antiseptic such as phenol, cresol, oxyquinoline, corrosive sublimate or mercurochrome. Before addition of the antiseptic the mass may be filtered and decolorized by means of animal charcoal. Pigments may also be added. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 9987/96, [Class 81], and other documents.ALSO:Isinglass plasters are prepared by immersing dried fish sounds in water, bringing the mass to the boiling point to render it sterile, adding an antiseptic, such as phenol, cresol, oxyquinoline, corrosive sublimate or mercurochrome, and immediately spreading the mass on fabric or other backing to form the plaster, which is then dried, cut to shape, and rolled on storage reels. Before addition of the antiseptic the isinglass solution may be filtered and decolorized with animal charcoal. Antiseptics containing pigments may be employed or a separate pigment may be added. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 9987/96, [Class (81)], and other documents.
