Abstract
432,252. Lubricating rotary compressors. OGILVIE, H., 38, St. Augustine's Road, Camden Square, London. Jan. 23, 1934, No. 166/35. Divided out of 432,215. [Class 12 (iii)] [See also Group XXVI] A rotary compressor 1 fed with cooling and sealing oil which is sprayed into the working space from the ends of the casing, is provided with valve means to prevent flooding of the compressor with oil, when the speed falls below a fixed minimum. A compressor, which may be of the type described in Specifications 379,712, and 406,051, [Group XXVI], delivers air and oil through a pipe 6 to a separator 7, the air passing a non- return valve 25 to a main 8, and the oil returning to the end chambers 4 of the compressor by way of a cooler 10 and filter 11. When the delivery pressure falls a piston 17 drops and closes a valve 14 to shut off the oil supply to the compressor. Through a pipe 24 pressure on a piston 22 is released and a valve 21 is raised to allow pressure in the separator 7 to fall. Non-return valves 25, 15, also close. Valve 21 may be dispensed with but where used it is held closed manually when the compressor is re-started, until the delivery pressure reaches a pre-determined value.
