Abstract

431,520. Radiators for motor vehicles; headers for heat-exchangers. JACKSON, L. H., The Hirsel, Kenilworth Road, Leaming- ton Spa. Jan. 9, 1934, No. 785. [Classes 29 and 64 (iii)] The water headers of a radiator are formed either wholly or in part of a non-metallic mouldable substance such as vulcanite, synthetic resin, or papier mÔchÚ. Thus, the radiator may consist of tanks 11, 12 made of a material known under the Registered Trade Mark " Bakelite " and having metal tube-plates secured by screws 25 to vertical channel bars 22 and an outer frame 24 mounted on the chassis frame 26 by bolts carrying rubber washers 28. The outer shell is secured by screws to bosses 29 on the sides of the frame 24. In a modification, the shell is dispensed with, and the radiator is given an artistic finish by parts 33, 34, integral with the upper tank and the tube-plate of the lower tank respectively, and side sections 35. Specification 385,732, [Group XXVIII], is referred to.
