[Class 20 (ii)] Beams constituting supports for centring, shuttering, &c. are provided at one end with a shallow projecting portion flush with the upper surface of the beam and movable longitudinally relatively thereto to enable the beam to be withdrawn. The beam 1, Fig. 1, may have a shoe 3 clamped adjustably to the beam by a nut 6 on a bolt passing through a slot 8 in the shoe. The shoe is flanged at 4, extensions 2 of these flanges projecting beyond the end transverse plane of the shoe and being supported by welded brackets 9. The flanges are tapered in thickness and in profile to facilitate withdrawal. In a modification the flange extensions 2 are supported by a transverse angle section bracket welded to the end of the shoe, the end plane of the shoe being spaced from the end of the beam when in use to provide clearance for the shoe on withdrawal. In a further modification the shoe is fixed but angle plates formed with projections and guided by the flanges 4 are slotted to admit of longitudinal adjustment on a bolt passing through the beam and shoe. In a further modification, a flanged bracket 20, Fig. 5, is first applied to the wall or other support, the beam then being moved upwardly into engagement with the top plate of the bracket, this plate being flanged, if desired, to engage a recess 38 in the beam. A pawl 24 pivoted at 22 on the bracket is then swung to engage a recess 28 in the lower face of the beam, the pawl being locked in this position by a bar 26 carried by parallel links 23 hung from a pin 21 in the bracket.
