[A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Feb. 4, 1935.] [Classes 5 (i) and 26] To immobilize vermin which climb by means of adhesion cups on the feet, a powder is used consisting of a mixture of at least two hydrophil substances one of which is a powdered mineral substance such as Portland cement or gypsum and another being an adherent organic substance such as dextrine, these substances being powdered sufficiently to pass through a sieve with 4000 meshes per sq. centimetre. The powder is used in a trap comprising an earthenware basin made with slanting surfaces a from which a round glazed curve b leads into the catching space of the trap; the curve b is treated with the powder which is also strewn over the catch space. A central bait receptacle g is filled with bait f and its upper portion may serve as a spittoon i. A rough porous covering z may be fitted to the exterior of the trap and may be supplied with water from a hollow space d in the outer wall by wicks e. In a modification the bait receptacle is raised above the catch space. The powders may be mixed with water or sticky liquids, particularly with water glass. In the Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 the immobilizing powder is described as being contained in receptacles surrounding the supports of perches, bird's nests and also around the legs of furniture. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
