[Class 98 (ii)] To avoid unsymmetrical diffusions in projecting colour-record lenticular films, a filter is used in which the zones are substantially symmetrical about their centre lines parallel to the lenticular elements, these lines being so spaced that their images projected by any lenticular element onto the picture layer are equidistant from one another and from the images formed by an adjacent element, the distances apart being equal to the width of a lenticular element divided by the number of filter zones. The filter is also such that on projecting a blank lenticular film the sums of the fundamental sensations of the human eye excited by the zones are the same for each zone. Original films in which these conditions are not fulfilled may be reproduced so that this condition is fulfilled in the copy. Suitable forms of filter are shown in Figs. 3 and 6. The zones 4, 5, 6 may be bounded by curved lines as in Fig. 3 or by straight lines as in Fig. 6, in which additional zones 41 and 61 corresponding in colour to the zones 4 and 6 are used. A mask having an opening 10 is arranged separately from the filter so that the part within the rectangle 10 is visible from the central image on the film under a lenticular element whereas the part visible from a lateral image is bounded by the rectangle 10<1>. Opaque strips 11 are arranged between the zones.
