[Classes 12 (ii) and 12 (iii)] One or more spring - loaded non-return valves is, or are, incorporated in a crank shaft so as to set up a predetermined resistance to the oil flow to the crank pin journals. For a two-throw crank-shaft 12, oil under pressure flows through passages 13.. 17 to an annular space 10 having ports 11 closed by a spring loaded valve 3. When the oil pressure exceeds the spring load oil passes through the ports 11 and passages 21, 23, 26, 22, 24, 27 to the crank-pin bearings 28, 29. The invention is particularly applicable to crank pins having roller type bearings.
