[Class 36] Electrical apparatus, such as transformers, condensers, cables or switches, are provided with a dielectric and cooling medium comprising a halogenated aromatic hydrocarbon having condensed nuclei, such as halogenated naphthalene, anthracene or phenanthrene, and a halogenated phenyloid hydrocarbon, such as halogenated benzene, diphenyl methane, diphenyl ketone, diphenyl or dibenzyl. For example, tetrachloro-naphthalene may be used in conjunction with chlorinated diphenyls containing 55 or 60 per cent of chlorine (preponderantly pentachlordiphenyl and hexachlordiphenyl, respectively), trichlorbenzene, 1 : 2 : 4 : 5-tetrachlorbenzene, or chlorinateddiphenyls and trichlorbenzene. Pentachloronaphthalene may be used as also may bromine, iodine or fluorine compounds. Specification 394,776 is referred to. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 409,774.
