427,100. Doubling and twisting yarns. GRANGER, A. D., Central Chambers, High Street, Long Eaton, Derbyshire. Sept. 28, 1934, No. 26775/33. [Class 120 (ii)] In doubling, twisting, and like machines twisting delivery-spindles 10 and winding-spindles 25, are arranged vertically, and the winding-bobbins are driven by drums 26, the yarn being wound thereon in cylindrical layers. The yarn passes from the spindle 10 around a pin 18 pivoted for lateral movement in a socket 19, over a guide bar 20, which may be provided with felt or like pads for wet doubling, through the eye of a detector 35 and a fixed guide 22, and is laid by a guide 23 carried by a rod reciprocated by a cam 33. Upon breakage, the detector 35 falls and brings the end 40 of a lever 37 into the path of a wiper 41, whereby a catch lever 39 is unshipped and a rod 46 is moved vertically by a spring 47 to turn a cradle lever 48 and thus to remove the bobbin 24 from the driving-drum. The pin 18 may be omitted or replaced by a flyer. Rows of twisting and winding spindles may be mounted in tiers on each side of a machine, Fig. 3, (not shown), the driving-rollers 13, 28 in corresponding rows being connected by gearing.
