[Class 107] Relates to road-surface heating machines of the kind in which heated gases are directed over the road surface by a hood 23. According to the invention, the gases are supplied to the hood by a downwardly directed conduit 25, which is mounted on a turntable 14 on a vehicle 10. In the construction shown, the turntable is mounted by rollers 13 on an annular track 12 and carries a part-circular toothed rack 16 meshing with a pinion 17 which is rotated by a handle 21. The hood and conduit are carried respectively by arms 22 and brackets 24 mounted on the turntable. The turntable carries also a motor 26 and a blower 27 driven thereby, the blower supplying air to the conduit 25 through a pipe 28. The air supplied is heated by an oil burner 29 associated with a combustion chamber in the conduit, and gravity fed from a fuel tank 31 mounted on the turntable. Alternatively, the air may be heated by an electrical heater mounted in the conduit or in the hood. The wheels of the vehicle are protected from the heat of the hood by a screen 32. In a modification, the means for supplying air and fuel to the heating device are mounted on a fixed part of the vehicle. In this case, the king pin 15 of the turntable is made hollow for receiving the necessary feed pipes. In another modification, the turntable is mounted on a trailerchassis, and the rack is completely circular so that the hood can be adjusted to positions on all sides of the vehicle.
