[Class 20 (iv)] A clip for fixing timber and like joists to concrete floors and the like is provided with ears A for engaging the joists and is bent up from a substantially rectangular sheet-metal blank provided with two cut-out portions D, each of which is arranged with one side parallel to the adjacent side of the blank so as to leave edge strips E adapted to be bent in order to form flanges for combining with the cutout portions D in anchoring the clip in the floor. The blank is also provided with inclined cut-out portions adapted to leave a diagonal bridge-piece C between them, as shown in Fig. 2, such bridge-piece being adapted to extend between the ears A for the support of the joist when the blank is bent as shown in Fig. 1. In position, the bridge-piece rests upon the surface of the concrete. Curved edges F are provided at corners of the cut out portions to facilitate bending the blank, and the edges of the bridge-piece are beaded. In an alternative form, the batten-engaging ears A are bent up from the centre of the blank to form a clip as shown in Fig. 3, two bridge-pieces C<1> being provided, one on each side of the ears. The clip in this case, is bent up from a rectangular frame, of which two opposite sides form the bridge-pieces and the other two sides have oppositely-facing triangular portions A projecting inwards to serve, on bending, as the batten engaging ears.
