Abstract
A readily filtered colloidal aluminium hydroxide is obtained by mixing solutions of sodium aluminate and of a soluble aluminium salt such as the sulphate, and adding calcium, strontium, or barium hydroxide, or calcium aluminate. The reaction mass should preferably have a pH value of 7,5--9, and is allowed to stand for some hours before being filtered and washed. The product contains from 4--10 per cent of solids, and may be used for the manufacture of printing inks, or for the coating and sizing of paper.
